ash & embers candles, based in san diego, california, is a luxury candle brand founded in 2021. our intention is to carefully curate exclusive, small-batch, handmade candles that reflect your highest self and inspire you and all of the beautiful souls who share your space. we are committed to incorporating the highest quality of ingredients and supporting other small business in our community.
Which kind of wax do you use?
We use No. 3 Coconut Wax, a designer natural coconut wax blend. It is predominately coconut wax, accompanied by soy wax, some RSPO palm wax, and a small amount of food grade paraffin.
This wax can be considered natural, it is vegan, and is not tested on animals.
Candlemakers can choose to use different types of wax such as soy, paraffin, palm, beeswax, and a blend of waxes. Often times, blends are made to take advantage of the qualities that each wax possess.
What is coconut wax?
Coconut wax burns the cleanest and the longest all of the waxes, giving you a better investment on your candle. You'll notice how evenly it burns and how strong the hot and cold throws are.
As a classified clean-burning wax, coconut wax is environmentally friendly and is considered to be the healthiest wax to make candles from because they are smokeless and produces less soot than other types of wax.
Are these candles handmade?
Yes! Each candle is made by hand, from the wick placement, to pouring, all the way to the trimming of each wick.
Our modern and minimalist concrete vessels are also handmade. Embrace the natural beauty as variations are normal. You may notice paint variations on the exterior and brush marks may be visible on the inside walls of the jar. Each lid is designed to fit that exact vessel.
Our lids are custom-engraved with the ash & embers logo by a southern California small business, dzign haus.

By popular demand, Maple Apple Bourbon, made a comeback to the fragrance line-up with the addition of Whiskey Barrel as the perfect pair to add to your home, for those seeking a bluesy, soulful, and sensual experience.
The matte black collection is available online and on-site at the Farmer's Markets and upcoming events.
